FAA Investigates Deadly Plane Crash In Riverside
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — The Federal Aviation Administration investigated a single-engine plane crash on Monday that killed a pilot in a neighborhood in Riverside.
Just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, a Beechcraft F-35 aircraft burst into flames after crashing in the area of Arlington Avenue and Adams Street, about a half mile east of Riverside Municipal Airport.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pilot reported having engine problems and wanted to make an emergency landing at the airport.
Right before the crash occurred, the pilot reported he did not believe he would make the landing.
Officials said the plane then clipped power lines in the area, struck a power pole and a light pole and came to rest upside down.
The plane narrowly missed two homes.

Upon authorities arrival, the pilot was identified at the scene. The county Coroner's office reported dental records will be used to identify the victim as the body was burned beyond recognition.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said they plan to remove the wreckage from the area this morning.
Adams Street will remain closed between Camellia Drive and Arlington Avenue until further notice.
