Extradition Papers Filed For Accused Hollywood Arsonist's Mom
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Federal prosecutors Wednesday filed the formal extradition papers in the case of Dorothee Burkhart, the mother of accused Hollywood arsonist Harry Burkhart.
The extradition case against Burkhart, 53, is reportedly the reason why her 24-year-old son went on alleged arson spree in Hollywood, West Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley, causing millions of dollars in property damages.
Burkhart faces 17 fraud charges in Germany for allegedly bilking apartment renters out of their security deposits. The original provisional arrest warrant filed last year against Burkhart listed 19 counts, meaning German officials decided not to pursue two charges against her, according to United States Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek.
Burkhart will appear in court for an extradition hearing on May 9.
