Ex-Westminster Police Detective Goes On Trial For 2010 Kidnapping, Rape
ONTARIO (CBS) — Trial began Monday for a former Westminster police detective accused of kidnapping a woman from Ontario Mills mall in 2010 and raping her at gunpoint.
Anthony Nicholas Orban faces kidnapping and rape charges in the 2010 attack on the woman, a 25-year-old waitress, who was taken from the parking lot as she left work and forced to drive to a commercial complex in Fontana.
Ontario police say the woman was raped at the commercial complex, but she managed to escape during the attack. Orban allegedly left his service weapon in the victim's car, which was later recovered by Ontario police.
Orban will try to convince the jury that he was under the influence of an antidepressant and therefore not responsible for his actions, the Los Angeles Times reports.
