Ex-Soccer Coach Due In Court On Molestation Charges
LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — A former Antelope Valley soccer coach accused of molesting 13 boys over almost a 20-year period was due in court Monday.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports Renoir Valenti pleaded not guilty last year to five felony counts of continuous sexual abuse and eight misdemeanor counts of child molestation.
Ex-Soccer Coach Due In Court On Molestation Charges
Valenti, 50, was a youth soccer coach for the Antelope Valley American Youth Soccer Organization for over 16 years before his arrest in August 2012 after a mother of a 9-year-old boy raised allegations Valenti molested her son.
Prosecutors claim Valenti used his position as a soccer coach to meet and befriend children, including alleged molestations involving boys aged 5 to 15 years old between January 1994 and July 2012.
Five of the alleged victims were soccer players coached by Valenti, according to prosecutors.
He has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $3.3 million bail.If convicted, Valenti faces up to 83 years in prison.
