Ex-LAPD Officer Charged With Murder To Appear In Court
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles Police Department Officer charged with murdering a man while off-duty in Pomona is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
Henry Solis, 27, was charged with one count of murder, and one count of assault with a firearm. He also faces a special allegation that he personally discharged a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
On March 13, Solis is accused of fatally shooting Salome Rodriguez outside of a bar in Pomona following an altercation.
After the shooting, he fled from the scene to Mexico where he was later arrested. Solis was transported back to the U.S. by federal officials, and was then extradited to California on Thursday where he was booked into Pomona city jail.
Police explained Solis, who worked for the LAPD since June 2014, was linked to the crime through evidence left at the scene. He was fired less than five days after the incident occurred.
The case remains under investigation by the Pomona Police Department.
Solis is being held on $2 million, and is scheduled to appear in court today.
If convicted as charged, he faces up to life in state prison, the district attorney's office said.
