Ex-Bulls Star Scottie Pippen Sued For $4M Over Alleged Malibu Brawl With Autograph-Seeker
MALIBU (CBS/AP) — Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen is being sued over a fight with an autograph-seeker at a Malibu restaurant last month.
Attorneys filed the $4 million lawsuit on behalf of the alleged victim, 49-year-old Camran Shafighi, Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The attorneys said Shafighi asked Pippen for an autograph for his girlfriend's son at Nobu restaurant on June 23 and instead got a "brutal and unjustified" attack.
Shafighi was reportedly punched in the head and then kicked while he was unconscious.
At the time of the incident, witnesses told authorities the victim appeared to be intoxicated during the confrontation.
Pippen was questioned but not arrested. No charges have been filed.
Shafighi's attorneys said the suit is an effort to compensate the man for his medical expenses, along with economic losses related to his business.
