LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — In response to LA's rain, flooding, mudslides, traffic problems and logistic issues, the Los Angeles County Operational Area Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) was launched Saturday at 6 a.m.
The storm also brought heavy rain and snow in the high elevations, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds around the Southland.
The LA Sheriff's Department said the CEOC was activated to also help support the cities of Glendora, Azusa and Monrovia (hardest hit by mudslides and storm-related issues including downed power lines.)
The National Weather Service is forecasting a flash flood watch for all of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties through 9 p.m.
The CEOC will remain activated and will monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend, said officials.
EVACUATIONS
The City of Monrovia Police Department announced that the mandatory evacuations have been lifted for the residents who live in the Monrovia Madison Fire areas. Residents are now under advisory evacuations, as they are allowed to go back to their homes. Only residents living on Highland Place will be allowed to gain access to that street.
Parts of Glendora and Azusa still remain under mandatory evacuation at this time.
MAIL DELIVERY
Evacuated residents of Glendora will be able to pick up their mail and packages at the Glendora Post Office, 255 S. Glendora Ave., on Sunday, March 2, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Amazon.com Sunday delivery packages will also be available for pick up. Customers must have photo identification to collect mail.
ROAD CLOSURES
• Topanga Canyon, Calabasas: Cold Canyon Road, Wonderview Drive to Mulholland Highway closed due to a broken water line.
• Malibu: Point Dume Beach parking lot closed due to tidal flooding on Westward Road access way.
• Glendora: Rainbow Drive at Sierra Madre Avenue closed due to storm conditions.
• Lake Hughes: Lake Hughes Road between Elizabeth Lake Road and Dry Gulch Road remains closed.
