Ethier Makes Playoffs Roster, Only AvailableTo Pinch-Hit
ATLANTA (CBSLA.com/AP) -- Outfielder Andre Ethier is on the Los Angeles Dodgers roster for the NL division series against the Atlanta Braves despite an injured ankle that likely will limit him to pinch-hitting duties.
Ethier hasn't played in the outfield since Sept. 13, but the Dodgers decided he had enough value to be included on their 25-man roster -- especially with injured slugger Matt Kemp out for the playoffs.
"I'm prepared whatever the capacity is," Ethier told Jim Hill. "If its pinch-hitting, I'll be ready for that. We are going to do whatever we can to win."
Skip Schumaker is starting in center field in Game 1 Thursday night.
Los Angeles also picked infielder Dee Gordon and utilityman Scott Van Slyke ahead of Jerry Hairston. The 11-man pitching staff includes left-hander Chris Capuano.
Edinson Volquez (9-12, 5.71 ERA in 32 starts), Carlos Marmol (2-4, 4.41 in 52 appearances) and Brandon League (6-4, 5.30 in 58 games) were left off.
