Estimated 1,000 Gallons Of Crude Oil Spills In Harbor Gateway Area
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities are investigating the cause of an oil spill of an estimated 1,000 gallons of crude oil that seeped onto Figueroa Street in the Harbor Gateway area.
The spill at BreitBurn Operating L.P., 14501 S. Figuereoa St., was first reported at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday and was stopped about 9 p.m., a Los Angeles Fire Department dispatch supervisor said.
Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters redirected and stopped the leak to keep it from entering the storm drain system. No injuries were reported.
A dispatch supervisor says the estimate of 1,000 gallons might be high.
An operator of BreitBurn was not aware of the leak Wednesday night.
