ESPN's Summer X Games Celebrates 11th And Final Year In SoCal
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — ESPN's Summer X Games opened in downtown Thursday, celebrating its 11th and last year in Southern California.
The games were first held in the City of Angels in 2002 and will move to Austin, Texas in 2014 to appeal to more fans nationwide, ESPN said.
The new location will be able to accommodate more fans and bigger tracks for sporting events such as skateboarding, BMX, Moto X and Rally Cross racing.
"They'll definetly lose some of the fans, but I feel like it will gain new skate fans which is good for the overall skateboarding community," Street Skate competitor Manny Santiago told KNX 1070's Megan Goldsby. "But I mean anybody that's anybody knows that if they wanna really skateboard, they have to come to California to do it."
