Eric Trump Deletes Illegal Ballot Selfie

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A photo of a ballot marked for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has his son in some hot water.

Eric Trump has since deleted the tweet of a ballot he cast Tuesday, but Twitter never forgets, and of course screenshots of the tweet have preserved the mistake for posterity.

So-called ballot selfies are illegal in 18 states, including California. The ballot photo bans were enacted 100 years ago as a way to prevent coercion, intimidation and vote buying, but the ACLU recently challenged California's law, saying it violated voters' right to freedom of speech by preventing them from expressing their political views.

The deleted tweet wasn't the only reason why Twitter was, well, atwitter over the Trumps' voting methods. Father and son were both captured by video cameras and photojournalists peeking at their wives' ballots in the neighboring booths.

The younger Trump will hopefully end the day on a better note, seeing as how Election Day happened to fall on his wedding anniversary.
