"We had two at least two suspects that we were in foot pursuit of, and we were able to apprehend one suspect," said Capt. Nick Zingo with LAPD West Valley Division.

Officers fanned out around the area near Ventura Boulevard and Louise Avenue saw two males in dark clothing running into the neighborhood.

The 18-year-old suspect in custody has a criminal background that includes robbery and evading police in a high-speed chase when he was barely 15 years old.

He was being questioned by detectives as a larger number of officers than usual will be patrolling the area just in case someone spots the second suspect.

Police warned he may try to seek temporary refuge in residents' backyards or on other parts of their property.

"If anybody sees anything, anybody running through their backyard or anybody hiding in their shed or their garage or anything like that, call 911 and let us know where they are," police said.
