Elementary School Locked Down After Report Of Man With Gun
MECCA (CBS) — An elementary school was locked down Wednesday as deputies searched for a gunman who reportedly fired a shot near the school.
Riverside County sheriff's deputies got second-hand information about a person carrying a gun near Saul Martinez Elementary School, 65705 Johnson St., spokeswoman Herlinda Valenzuela said.
"We have not been able to locate anyone with any type of weapon," she said.
Deputies asked school officials to hold students in their classrooms at about 12:55 p.m. The lockdown was lifted at 1:45 p.m., Coachella Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Lorena Servin said.
