Electrical Failure In Mission Hills Blamed For Displaced Sewer Covers
MISSION HILLS (CBSLA.com) — An electrical failure was likely behind several manhole covers that were displaced in the San Fernando Valley, officials said Friday.
KNX 1070's Vytas Safronikas reports investigators with the Department of Water and Power blocked off streets near Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills to determine what caused the blast.

Officials received reports at 9:44 a.m. about a possible vault explosion along the 16000 block Rinaldi Street between Woodley and Haskell, according to Los Angeles City Fire spokesman Erik Scott.
"We had some 911 calls for some loud noises that were heard, and when our firefighters arrived on scene, they found several manhole covers that had been displaced," Scott said.
Streets in the area were blocked off before DWP maintenence workers found electrical lines in two underground vaults had failed, which lead to the sewer covers pushed up by the pressure, Scott said.
No injuries or power outages were reported.
