Elderly Woman Suffers Burns To Face In Sun Valley House Fire
SUN VALLEY (CBS) — An elderly woman was badly burned in a house fire Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out when the 84-year-old resident was cooking at her home in the 12400 block of Burton Avenue in Sun Valley just before 8 a.m., fire officials said.
Officials say newspaper caught on fire and spread to the rest of the 1,200-square-foot home that had pack-rat like conditions.
The house was a total loss, fire officials said.
The woman suffered first-degree burns to her face, according to officials. She was taken to a local hospital in fair condition.
It took firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
