East LA Man Found Guilty In Icepick Stabbing Murder Of Ex-Girlfriend
VAN NUYS (CBS) — An East Los Angeles man was convicted Thursday of second- degree murder in the fatal icepick stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found in her car in Winnetka.
The Van Nuys Superior Court jury deliberated less than three hours before finding Fredy Hernandez, 31, guilty of the Dec. 20, 2009 slaying of Doris Salguero of Reseda.
The 24-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest and back.
She was found under a coat in the back seat of her car near Leadwell Street and Shirley Avenue, about three blocks from her home.
Salguero had reportedly refused to reconcile with Hernandez. The woman's relatives contacted police after she failed to return home from a Christmas party in Carson, which Hernandez had also attended.
Salguero's body was eventually found by her brother, who was driving around the neighborhood and spotted her car parked on the side of a road.
