East Coast Blizzard Strands Holiday Travelers At LAX
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Some holiday travelers are stuck at Los Angeles International Airport due to a blizzard hammering the East Coast.
Delta, American, Alaska and Jet Blue were among the airlines with flights from LAX that were delayed or canceled due to inclement weather and airport closures in the Northeast, according to Los Angeles World Airports.
Holiday travelers heading to New York, Boston and Philadelphia were stranded because of the blizzard, which was expected to dump at least a foot of snow along the East Coast. About 16 flights from LAX were canceled Monday due to the weather.
JFK International in New York, Newark International, Boston's Logan International and Bradley International in Connecticut were among the airports forced to temporarily close due to the weather.
LAX officials urged passengers to contact their airlines to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
