Early Voting, Mail-In Ballots May Shorten Election Day Polling Lines
NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles residents may not have to wait in long lines at polling places Tuesday, thanks to early voting and mail-in ballots.
The Los Angeles County Registrar's Office in Norwalk was packed Monday with people who said they can't vote on Election Day.
"I have to work tomorrow," said resident Robert Rivera.
In addition, more than 700,000 out of 1.5 million mail-in ballots in L.A. County have been returned to the registrar's office so far.
However, if a resident must vote Tuesday, election officials encouraged people to go to their pre-assigned polling place to speed up the process.
"If you can't get to your own polling location, you can go to any polling location in the county and vote a provisional ballot," said L.A. County Registrar, Dean Logan.
Officials also suggested people vote during off-peak hours, like mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
