DUI Suspect Charged In Deaths Of Man, 6-Year-Old Boy
TORRANCE (AP) — A suspected drunken driver is facing a second murder charge for the weekend deaths of a Southern California man and a 6-year-old boy.
Prosecutors say 33-year-old Perry Lee Oakley Jr. has been charged with murder for the death of 62-year-old Samuel Lee Dickens of Compton. Oakley could face life in prison if convicted of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
The Torrance Daily Breeze says Oakley was behind the wheel of an Acura that slammed into a Toyota Camry on Saturday in Gardena.
Six-year-old Sylvester Payne Jr., who was riding in the Camry with Dickens, died Tuesday and Oakley is now expected to be charged with murder for the boy's death.
Tuesday's arraignment was postponed until May 2.
