LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old woman is expected to be arraigned Friday in connection with an alleged DUI crash that killed two of her friends and seriously injured two others.
Jeanette Romero, who was arrested earlier this week, was charged Friday with two counts each of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence causing injury, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.
On Nov. 3, 2013, Romero was traveling northbound on the 110 Freeway when she struck a curb at a turnout and subsequently hit a fence and tree, according to prosecutors.
She had been at a club in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the birthday of 22-year-old Ana Cuadra, who was killed in the crash, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Blanca Belman-Almanza, 23, who was riding in the passenger seat, was also killed.
Romero and two other passengers were seriously injured.
Prosecutors are asking that Romero's bail be set at $330,000.
If convicted, she faces up to 13 years in prison.
