Ducks Waive 2 Defensemen
ANAHEIM (AP) -- The Anaheim Ducks have put defensemen Brett Festerling and Danny Syvret on waivers.
The Ducks made the moves Thursday.
Festerling scored three points in 42 games with Anaheim last year in his second NHL season, but has played in just one exhibition game this fall.
Syvret signed with the Ducks in July after playing in 21 games with Philadelphia last season.
The moves leave Anaheim with eight defensemen in competition for roster spots, including 18-year-old Cam Fowler, a first-round pick.
New free-agent signee Toni Lydman is sidelined indefinitely with an eye injury that has kept him out of training camp.
Anaheim is rebuilding its defense after the offseason retirement of captain Scott Niedermayer.
