Ducks' Shawn Horcoff Suspended 20 Games For Banned Treatment

ANAHEIM (AP) — Anaheim Ducks forward Shawn Horcoff has been suspended for 20 games for violating the terms of the NHL's performance-enhancing substances program.

The NHL announced the suspension Tuesday.

Horcoff says he tried an unspecified treatment last fall to speed up his recovery from an injury, and he didn't know the treatment wasn't permitted under NHL rules.

The veteran forward will lose $357,526.88 in salary during his suspension. Horcoff is in his first year with the Ducks after 13 years in Edmonton and two more with Dallas.

The 37-year-old Horcoff has six goals and four assists this season while playing in 45 of the Ducks' 46 games.
