Dual Sinkholes Shut Down Anaheim Traffic

ANAHEIM (CBS) — City officials closed one block-long section of traffic on Katella Avenue after two sinkholes as deep as 20 feet opened up on Wednesday.

The sinkholes developed near a storm drain project, Maria Sabol of the Anaheim Fire Department said, and westbound lanes were closed near Easy Way shortly before 11 a.m.

Eastbound traffic was funneled into one lane in the area to allow westbound traffic to pass, she said.

One hole was about 30-by-10 feet, and the other was about 20-by-20 feet, Sabol said.

Anaheim fire department spokeswoman Maria Sabol talks with KNX 1070's Tom Haule and Linda Nunez.
