Driver Takes CHP On Pursuit Through LA Area
SYLMAR (CBSLA) — A man is in custody after leading the California Highway Patrol on a nearly two-hour pursuit early Tuesday morning.
The pursuit began in South Pasadena when the driver failed to yield on Fair Oaks Avenue at the 110 Freeway at 12:54 a.m. According to CHP, the driver was driving without his headlights on.
The driver fled and led officers on a chase hitting speeds of up to 80 miles per hour before he surrendered at 2:40 a.m. on the northbound 14 Freeway, just off the 5 Freeway. Traffic was reportedly light throughout the pursuit.
According to reports from the scene, the pursuit ended because the driver began to experience mechanical issues with his car.
There were no passengers in the silver four-door Honda, and there were no injuries reported.
The name of the driver was not released.
