Driver, 64, Dies After Driving Into Flood-Control Channel In Long Beach
LONG BEACH (CBS) — Authorities believe a motorist may have experienced a medical emergency before driving his pickup truck into a flood control channel in Long Beach Thursday morning.
Witnesses said the driver, now identified as Thaddeus Tran, 64, was driving erratically just before the crash.
Tran, of Westminster, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, said Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Rico Fernandez said.
The vehicle entered the flood channel upside down and was also submerged. When authorities arrived to pull Tran out of the vehicle, they said he was in full cardiac arrest.
