Driver, 23, Killed When His Car Slams Into Power Pole On Freeway Off Ramp
SOUTH GATE (CBS) — A 23-year-old driver was killed Saturday evening when his car slammed into a power pole and tree on an off ramp of the 105 Freeway.
South Gate police said the accident was reported just after 10:50 p.m. Saturday.
The accident occurred on Somerset Ranch Road near Paramount Boulevard. Lt. Keith Hupp said it appeared the driver died almost instantly.
A female passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Hupp said.
It is unclear why the man lost control of the vehicle.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.
