Driver, 19, Thrown From Vehicle And Killed On 118 Freeway
LAKE VIEW TERRACE (CBS) — California Highway Patrol officials say a 19-year-old driver was thrown from his vehicle and killed Sunday morning on the eastbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway.
The accident occurred in Lake View Terrace just after 2:40 a.m. on the connector road from the 118 to the westbound Foothill (210), according to the CHP.
The motorist, identified as North Hills resident David Garcia, was driving a 2008 Scion TC when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The car overturned and went down an embankment on the eastbound side of the freeway.
CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said Garcia suffered a blow to the head.
The car came to rest near Paxton Street and Foothill Boulevard, Kimball said.
A law enforcement helicopter was used in the search for other possible victims but none were found, said Kimball.
