Dozens Attend Town Hall Meeting In Pacoima To Discuss Race, Police Violence
PAICOMA (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of people attended a town hall meeting in Pacoima Saturday to discuss race and police violence.
The meeting called "Black Lives Matter" from the hashtag of the same name, was sponsored by the NAACP and the LAPD.
The groups hoped that a dialog between the police and the black community could help calm tensions and provide better understanding between the two.
The police provided a simulator and let the audience see what it's like for an officer in various life-and-death situations.
NAACP leaders, meanwhile, also called for the LAPD to provide more diversity training for officers. The NAACP leadership also called on the black community to work harder at respecting police and authority.
