Dog Tied To Train Tracks Gets A New Home
THOUSAND PALMS (AP) — The little dog left tied to the railroads tracks as a train approached is moving to a new home.
The pooch named Banjo will live with Jeff and Louisa Moore of Huntington Beach. The couple also have a Tibetan terrier named Lali.
The Moores picked up Banjo Friday at a Riverside County shelter.
More than 1,300 people volunteered to adopt the dog after hearing of his plight.
Animal services officials settled on the Moores because they live close to the beach and near a dog park — and because they checked on Banjo's well-being nearly every day.
A Union Pacific crew halted a freight train in the desert near Palm Springs last month after seeing an elderly man tie Banjo to the railroad tracks.
