Does Anybody Have An Ark Handy?
A line of storms pushing through Southern California is going to keep us water-logged through the middle of the next week. In the weather business we look for consistency in our computer forecast models...and those models have pegged major rain for Wednesday. We will see on and off showers through the entire weekend. There is now a Flash Flood Watch for the area starting Saturday night...running through Sunday.
This storm has the potential to bring some of the worst rain we've seen in the area in quite a long time. We will get a break from the rain on Monday for a bit into Tuesday, but the rain kicks up again late Tuesday and hits hard for Wednesday.
Here are some numbers to keep in mind. We are expecting 1" to 3" of rain in the flat lands...we could see 4" to 6" in the foothills by the end of the weekend. Wednesday we are going to add another 2" to 4" of rain to the mix. For mountain communities it could be well over 10" of rain. Now is the time to think about your plan of attack should you be asked to leave. Think about your property and where water may collect. One final note...turn off the sprinklers. There's nothing worse than looking out at the rain coming down...and somebody has their sprinkler running. It's a complete waste of water. We'll keep you updated as we get more details.
