Dodgers Trade Theriot To Cards For More Pitching
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded infielder Ryan Theriot to the St. Louis Cardinals for pitcher Blake Hawksworth.
The deal was announced Tuesday.
Theriot hit .270 with 29 RBIs last season while with the Chicago Cubs and Dodgers. The Dodgers are close to signing free agent infielder Juan Uribe, making Theriot expendable.
The right-handed Hawksworth went 4-8 with a 4.98 ERA in 45 games last season.
