Dodgers To Wear New Alternate Road Jersey

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers will wear a second alternate road jersey this season with the team's nickname on it.

The team will start wearing a jersey that says "Dodgers" for its road games during spring training and also when it opens the regular season against Arizona in Australia on March 22.

When the franchise moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1958, the road jersey featured the name Dodgers. Starting the next year, the road jersey said Los Angeles and continued that way through 1969. The team nickname returned to the jersey from 1970-98. The city name has been used from 1999 to the present.

The last time the Dodgers wore alternate jerseys was in 2011, when they wore powder blue Brooklyn jerseys for six home games.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 8.
