Dodgers To Activate Ramirez From DL For Tuesday's Game
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Cuban defector and prospect phenom Yasiel Puig met expectation in Hollywood style on Monday night as the Dodgers beat the Padres 2-1 at Dodger Stadium -- now there is more good news for the club.
The Dodgers are reportedly expecting to activate shortstop Hanley Ramirez from the disabled list before Tuesday's game.
Ramirez, who injured his hamstring at AT&T Park in San Francisco on May 3, has been playing in rehab games with Rancho Cucamonga for the past week.
On Monday, Ramirez doubled out of the two hole in his first at-bat.
More importantly, Ramirez ran well to beat an infield throw to first. This shows that his hamstring can support him exploding out of the box.
Ramirez has played in only four games for the Dodgers this year, with two doubles, a home run, and a stolen base in just 12 plate appearances.
The 29-year-old's return could mean a much-needed boost in production from the shortstop position, where the platoon of Dee Gordon, Nick Punto, Luis Cruz, and Justin Sellers was producing just .182/.272/.271.
