Dodgers Tag Weaver, Angels 9-1

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver had a lot of trouble locating his pitches. The Los Angeles Dodgers' hitters had no problem finding them.

Juan Rivera hit his second homer of the spring and Justin Sellers also connected as the Dodgers chased Weaver in a 9-1 romp Monday.

Rivera, who formerly played for the Angels, drove in four runs. His two-run double off Weaver highlighted a three-run first inning.

Weaver, expected to start on opening day, gave up three runs on four hits and two walks in his second spring start. He walked two batters in the first.

"I'm really not worried about results, to be honest with you," Weaver said. "I wasn't really hitting my spots early on."

Weaver went 18-8 with a 2.41 ERA last season. He worked two scoreless innings in his first spring start against Seattle.

"He was pitching from behind on the count," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "But it's early in the spring."

Dodgers right-hander Aaron Harang made his second spring start and worked three innings, giving up one run and three hits. He went 14-7 with a 3.67 ERA with San Diego last season.

NOTES: Scioscia said he expects both Mike Trout and Kendrys Morales to take part in spring training games soon. Morales has been doing drills that included running from first to third base, and could open in the team's minor league games at Tempe this week. Trout has been slowed by the flu since early in camp and lost 10 pounds. Scioscia said Trout has gotten most of his weight back and would likely be in a game by Monday. ... Angels third baseman Mark Trumbo made his first error, bobbling a routine grounder by Matt Kemp in the second inning. "He's got to get comfortable with a lot of different plays out there," Scioscia said. "He'll get better." Trumbo is a natural first baseman but had to move after the Angels signed Albert Pujols.
