Dodgers Sign Juan Rivera To $4.5 Million Deal
(CBS) -- Pending a physical, the Los Angeles Dodgers have re-signed OF/1Bman Juan Rivera to a 1-year, $4 million contract.
The Dodgers also have a $4 million option for the 2013 season. The team can buy out Rivera for $500,000 after next season, giving him $4.5 million guaranteed.
Rivera hit .274 for the Dodgers, after the team acquired him from the Toronto Blue Jays at the All-Star break in 2010.
He is expected to split time in LF with Jerry Sands and could be used at first base, should the Dodgers not offer James Loney arbitration.
