Dodgers' Kershaw Added To 2015 NL All-Star Active Roster, Replaces Scherzer
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The reigning National League Cy Young and MVP winner has been added to the NL roster for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game.
NL manager Bruce Bochy, along with MLB, announced the addition of Dodgers' pitcher Clayton Kershaw to the active roster for the game after Washington Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer elected not to be active.
Scherzer's start on Sunday afternoon ruled him ineligible to be active in the Midsummer Classic on Tuesday.
Scherzer had been elected through the Player Ballot, and was an All-Star for the third time, though it was his first bid in the National League. He was 9-7 with a 2.12 ERA entering into Sunday's start, with 123.1 innings pitched, allowing 29 earned runs, and an unprecedented 143 strikeouts to only 14 walks.
Scherzer is still invited to Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati for All-Star honors.
Kershaw is 6-6 with a 2.85 ERA, and is an All-Star for the fifth consecutive season. The reigning Cy Young and MVP winner has given up 39 earned runs, struck out 160 batters, and walked 27.
Adrian Gonzalez, Yasmani Grandal, Zack Greinke and Joc Pederson represent the other Dodger All-Stars of 2015.
