Dodgers Hire Vice Chairman To Help Improve Fan Experience
(LOS ANGELES) -- The Dodgers have hired Steve Soboroff as a vice chairman whose duties include improving the fan experience at Dodger Stadium. He will report to owner Frank McCourt.
The Dodgers announced his hiring Tuesday. Soboroff's other responsibilities include improving ties to the community and area charitable organizations and expanding conservation and sustainability programs at the stadium.
Soboroff is currently board chairman of both the Weingart Foundation and the EXPO Center in Exposition Park. He is a former president of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission and former chief executive officer of the Playa Vista development on the city's west side. He was senior adviser to former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.
The team says Soboroff will coordinate implementation of recommendations from former Los Angeles Police Chief Bill Bratton's team to enhance security and the overall fan experience at the stadium.
McCourt says Soboroff will infuse "great ideas and energy to the Dodger organization," and he will use his "trademark get-it-done approach to extend the team's positive impact on the city."
Soboroff says he plans to meet with fans to hear their ideas for improving things at the stadium.
Soboroff's hiring comes after a San Francisco Giants fan was severely beaten in a parking lot at the stadium after the Dodgers' season opener March 31. No arrests have been made.
