Dodgers fans brace for NLCS Game 4 against the Mets as LA holds 2-1 series lead

The Dodgers are heading into NLCS Game 4 against the New York Mets with a 2-1 series lead Thursday night, leaving some LA fans cautious but confident following the team's 8-0 blowout of the Mets in Game 3.

The Boys in Blue started off the National League Championship Series with a victory at home in Game 1 Sunday night but New York tied the series the next day in Game 2. Los Angeles nabbed the lead Wednesday night, though, as the team cruised to an 8-0 win with Shohei Ohtani launching a three-run homer as they played at Citi Field in Queens.

As the Dodgers take on the Mets in New York City once again, fans back home in LA are holding onto hope for an even bigger lead.

"Last night, they kicked butt. Thank God," said Elsa Roldan as she visited Mother Made Donuts in Whittier, where pastries were being glazed and dressed up as baseballs with the iconic LA logan. "We were a little scared."

Roldan was among fans who grew worried after the Dodgers lost Game 2 just ahead of the team traveling across the country to play at the Mets' home in New York City. But she said she's feeling much better after Wednesday night's victory. 

"So tonight, you know, they're going to take it all the way," she said.

Max Muncy, who hit his 13th postseason home run in Game 3 which gave LA its 8-0 lead and tied a franchise record, said the team is ready to rise to the occasion as they head into Game 4, according to the MLB.

"I think the biggest thing is we have good attitudes in terms of how to handle the postseason atmosphere," Muncy said. "We've got a lot of guys that are built for the moment, and you've seen it."  

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said the team is staying ready — home field advantage or not.

"These guys are locked in," Roberts said. "And they understand they have a job to do to prevent runs. And I think we're playing good defense, too. That's a big part of it, too."
