Dodgers Drop Plans For Half-Price Beer Promotion

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles Dodgers say they have dropped plans to offer half-price beer at six midday games this season.

As a San Francisco Giants fan who was nearly beaten to death in the Dodger Stadium parking lot on opening day continues to recover, the Dodgers say beer will be regularly priced, but will still offer half-price food and soft drinks during the selected games.

Critics had called on the team to drop the half-price beer promotion after the near-fatal beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow, who remains in a medically-induced coma. Among the critics was county Supervisor Michael Antonovich, KNX 1070's Bill Cooper reports.

The six-game promotion begins April 21 with a midday game against the Atlanta Braves.
