Dodger Stadium's First Night With Stricter Security Ends Peacefully
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles police officers handed out 46 citations Thursday night as part of the new, stricter security measures at Dodger Stadium.
"We had a great, safe game," Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Jose Perez said, after the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-5 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. "This is the benchmark we will have at future Dodger games."
The new security measures were put in place in response to the Opening Day attack in a stadium parking lot on a San Francisco Giants fan. Bryan Stow remains in a coma and the two men believed to have beaten him remain at large.
Perez said there were no reported violent offenses at the game. Most of citations were for carrying open containers or drinking alcohol in public. There were no arrests on stadium property.
