Dodger Stadium To Undergo $100M Renovation

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Dodger Stadium will undergo a $100 million renovation this coming offseason that will be completed in time for the 2020 baseball season.

The renovation was announced at a Tuesday afternoon news conference that included the unveiling of the official logo for the 2020 All-Star game, which is being held at Dodger Stadium.

In attendance was MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti.

The highlight of the renovation will be a new 2-acre centerfield plaza with restaurants, a beer garden, sports bars and a children's play area.

"I like the idea of adding some of those features just because it kind of gives it more of a family atmosphere," Tricia Funk, a Dodgers fan, said. "And people can stay after the games and come a bit earlier and have things to do."

There will be upgrades to the left and right field pavilions with enclosed bars and "home run seats" just beyond the outfield wall. A new sound system will be added as well as a well-deserved statue for No. 32, Sandy Koufax.

The renovation will also add elevators and bridges to connect the outfield pavilions to the rest of the stadium, giving fans a 360 connection around the park's perimeter.
