Dodger Fans To Undergo New Security Guidelines For 2015 Season

CHAVEZ RAVINE (CBSLA.com) — Dodger fans attending games in 2015 will undergo new security procedures at Dodger Stadium, set in place by the league.

The new procedures, which will begin with the Freeway Series finale on Saturday, April 4, against the Angels, and will run through the entirety of the 2015 season, include a metal-detection-enhanced screening process.

The procedure resulted from a study of the most efficient security practices and the league's work with the Department of Homeland Security.

The metal-detection screening will be placed in addition to the current standard bag checks, which are used throughout the league. The screening may be conducted through the use of hand-held metal detectors or walk-through magnetometers, similar to those seen at airports.

As stadium staff look to make certain the screenings don't cause delays for fans entering the stadium, fans are asked to:

  • Arrive early to minimize wait times
  • Minimize the amount of items brought into the stadium
  • place large metal objects, including cellphones and sunglass cases, on tables for screening prior to walking through detectors
  • Take advantage of alternative screening method if you have strollers, wheelchairs or medical devices that may set off detectors
  • Guests will not be required to remove belts, shoes, jackets, wallets, keys or coins
  • Only bags with the MLB standard dimensions of 16" x 16" x 8" will be permitted
