Dodger Fans Say Shuttles' Issues Cause Late Attendance At Ball Games
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dodger fans are complaining that the shuttle that takes them from Union Station to the stadium takes too long, causing them to miss significant portions of the ball games.
Additionally, fans say that the system itself is poorly handled, with confusion taking over as fans have form two separate, unnecessary lines for the shuttle.
During the ride itself, the issue of traffic presents more obstacles for fans trying to get to the game on time.
"It took us just under two hours to get off the bus," fan Ray Galvan said. "People were so frustrated, they were getting off at Alameda and Sunset."
Fans who rode the shuttle on Tuesday night report that the shuttle took 75 minutes to 2 hours, just to get to the stadium.
Metro officials, meanwhile, say that the primary reason for Tuesday's slow traffic was that the ball game was a sellout, and that getting fans to the stadium on time is generally not an issue.
"The attendance was over 53,000 (on Tuesday night)," Metro's Cathy Rosas said. "So I'm assuming that lots of the people were interested in driving on their own."
CBS2's Rachel Kim rode the shuttle prior to the Dodgers' Wednesday game against the Detroit Tigers, and reported that the trip took 40 minutes.
The shorter time may be due, in part, to patrolling Sheriff's deputies clearing the bus lanes, which cars in the area reportedly have a habit of crossing into.
In the meantime, Metro says they are looking at ways to keep swift rides on the shuttle more consistent.
