Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Norwalk
NORWALK (CBS) — A deputy-involved shooting in Norwalk Thursday left a man dead.
The shooting occurred about 5 a.m. in the 11400 block of Pioneer Boulevard, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. No deputies were injured.
The dead man's name was not immediately released, nor were the circumstances of the shooting, which were under investigation.
It was the second deputy-involved shooting in Norwalk this week. About 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, deputies shot and wounded an armed man in the 11700 block of Elmcroft Avenue.
Deputies sent to that location on a report that someone was shooting a firearm saw a man standing in the street holding a handgun in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other, authorities said.
According to the sheriff's department, the man appeared agitated, and challenged the deputies to kill him. Deputies ordered him to drop the gun, but he allegedly fired the weapon, and a bullet struck a patrol car. The deputies returned fire, wounding him several times.
The man was hospitalized in stable condition. No deputies were injured.
