Director Yoav Potash Discusses His Film 'Crime After Crime'
STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Director Yoav Potash visited the KCAL 9 studios Thursday. Potash directed the film "Crime after Crime."
The film documents the fight to get Deborah Peagler, who served time for a first-degree murder conviction, out of prison. Deborah was a victim of domestic violence who had tried to escape her abuser many times, and had contacted police, who were of little help. When two men who were supposed to protect Deborah killed her abuser, she was charged with first-degree murder and threatened with the death penalty.
By the time she was released after serving 26 years, Peagler had terminal cancer and died several months later.
"Crime after Crime" was screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival and has won many awards as festivals across the country.
