Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs To $31 Million
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Sure, it's a bit of a letdown after last week's $640 million Mega Millions jackpot, but $20 million was up for grabs in Friday night's draw.
$20 million? Not too shabby.
The numbers in Friday's multi-state Mega Millions draw were 2, 19, 20, 24, 33 and the Mega number was 39.
No one matched all six numbers so Tuesday's draw will climb to an estimated even-less-shabby $31 million.
Two tickets with five numbers (no Mega) were sold in Sacramento (Market Basket, 3845 Marysville Boulevard) and San Clemente (7-Eleven, 1802 N. El Camino Real). Those tickets are each worth $272,085, according to the CA Lottery.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 175,711,536, according to the Mega Millions website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 40.
The California Lottery reports 103,798 tickets in California won prizes ranging from $2 to the $272,085.
The Mega Millions game is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
