Detours In Place For Popular Bike Path Across Camp Pendleton
SAN ONOFRE (CBS) — Those using the popular bike path across Camp Pendleton will have to use an adjacent freeway next week as the Marine base plans military operations, base officials said Saturday.
The bike path, which uses the old U.S. 101 pavement, will be closed Monday through Friday and cyclists will be detoured onto emergency lanes of Interstate 5.
To avoid conflicts with merging traffic, bike riders will need to exit the freeway at all off-ramps, and then re-enter the freeway at on-ramps.
Detour procedures will be posted.
