Detectives Seek Public's Help In Solving 17-Year-Old Cold Case Murder
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in solving a 17-year-old cold case murder.
The body of 20-year-old Gail Allen was found on Oct. 28, 1995, in the 21000 block of Covina Hills Road in an unincorporated area of Covina, Los Angeles Sheriff's detectives said.
"She was discovered unclothed in a sleeping bag, burned, dumped off the side of the road," Lt. Dace Dolson said.
Allen, who had a 2-year-old daughter at the time of her death, went unidentified until June of this year when DNA samples from her parents were matched to her remains, officials said.
The identification of Jane Doe as Allen led detectives to reopen the case.
Allen was reportedly last seen with a man known as "Cowboy," who drove a red Chevy Camaro.
Authorities have no suspects currently.
