'Desperate Bandit' Strikes Again In Tustin, Chino
TUSTIN (CBS) — The "Desperate Bandit" has struck again. And again.
Officials say the "Desperate Bandit" hit a Tustin bank just before 2 p.m. Friday. They believe he struck a bank in Chino later in the afternoon.
In the first robbery, the FBI said the man walked into a Bank of the West branch in the 700 block of East First Street, passed a note to a teller and left with about $240.
Stacey Butler, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says the bandit is also believed to have previously robbed US Bank branches in Chino and Anaheim.
She reports, the bandit is inconspicuous looking. "He looks like a tourist," Butler reported.
In each of the reported robberies, the suspect has handed over typed notes and describes his financial situation as "desperate," hence the nickname.
Butler also reports the man "demands $100 bills and puts them in what looks like a purse."
He is described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and in his late 30s to early 40s.
"Desperate Bandit" has not yet produced a weapon, but police believe he is increasingly dangerous.
Officer Sean Quinn said, "If he is desperate enough to rob a bank at 2 in the afternoon, he is desperate to do anything."
