Deputy-Involved Shooting Reported In Paramount
PARAMOUNT (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy fired at, and missed, a suspect who was taken into custody.
Officials said the deputy approached the suspect -- who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics -- around 4:25 p.m. in the 7300 block of Alondra Boulevard.
When the deputy asked the suspect to stop, the suspect became uncooperative and appeared to be reaching for a weapon, according to Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Department.
Additional deputies arrived on the scene and subdued the man. During a struggle, officials said the suspect also tried to kick the deputies.
Manatt said a Taser was also used to bring the man down.
The Department's Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating.
